Labiaplasty Vienna

Intimate surgical procedure – discreet and sensitive.

Labiaplasty Vienna

Dissatisfaction in the intimate area is not a topic women like to talk about. Various factors can influence the appearance of the labia and lead to aesthetic, but also functional problems. Often the inner labia are too large or the outer ones too small, or an asymmetry is present.

Due to the trend towards complete intimate shaving, it is now visible when the outer labia do not enclose the inner labia as the ideal image provides. This can be genetically determined or occur over the course of life or the natural ageing process. In addition, physical discomfort can occur, such as pain during sexual intercourse or during sporting activities.

You do not have to put up with this. In the area of the labia, even small procedures of intimate surgery can achieve a lot. Feel free to book a discreet consultation on labiaplasty (labia reduction) with Dr. Özdemir in Vienna.

Reasons for a labia correction (labiaplasty)

The ideal case, in which the outer labia close over the inner ones and cover them, is not present in many women. There are large differences in the extent and shape of the labia. In some cases, the inner labia protrude visibly. Many women feel a psychological burden as a result. They often avoid tight-fitting clothing and are reluctant to show themselves naked. If great distress arises due to the appearance, an operation for aesthetic reasons can be sensible.

But functional reasons, too, can be decisive for a labia reduction. The inner labia protect the vagina from drying out, foreign bodies and the penetration of germs. If the inner labia are too large and protrude beyond the outer ones, the protective function can no longer be fully performed. This can promote recurrent urinary tract infections. A deflection of the urine stream can also occur.

In addition, the protrusion of the inner labia can cause pain through friction during sport (e.g. cycling, riding) and sexual intercourse. This can lead to psychological impairments and even to disorders of one's sex life.

In many cases, years of distress with psychological burden already exist before the step towards an operation is taken – one that can restore satisfaction with one's own body.

Methods for labia reduction

Which surgical technique Dr. Özdemir uses is individually different. He adapts the various incisions to the respective findings.

The reduction of the inner labia is one of the most common plastic-surgical procedures in the female genital area. If the inner labia are too large or wide, they are shortened and the mucous membranes are then sutured again. Any asymmetries can be adjusted in the process.

If there is also excess skin around the clitoris, this can be adjusted as a combination treatment. With enlarged inner labia, the clitoral hood is often too large as well.

In some cases, a labia augmentation with autologous fat on the outer, slackened labia can be sensible in order to build them up.

The operation is carried out with a self-dissolving suture.

Consultation with Dr. Özdemir

In a personal conversation, Dr. Özdemir addresses your personal ideas and wishes, taking the findings into account. An intimate operation is a sensitive matter. Dr. Özdemir knows this from many years of experience – you are in good hands with him. The specialist in Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery answers your questions in detail, informs you about the methods and prepares an individual treatment plan for you. The labia are measured precisely beforehand. Dr. Özdemir also informs you about the possible risks and the exact cost.

The labiaplasty operation in Vienna

Through this relatively small, low-pain procedure, inner labia that are too long or too wide can be reduced. In rare cases, the outer labia are also reduced. The intimate operation can only take place under local anaesthesia in certain circumstances. Preferably, however, a clear level of patient comfort can be achieved with a short general anaesthesia.

The plastic surgeon removes a strip of the excess tissue of the inner labia in order to create a natural proportion. If the clitoral hood extends far beyond the clitoris, this can also be gently tightened. The outer labia should largely enclose the inner ones, so that the intimate area is protected.

Sutures do not have to be removed, as self-dissolving suture material is used. Dr. Özdemir makes sure to place the incisions as hidden as possible, so that only fine scars remain, which are usually not visible afterwards.

After the labia reduction

In the first few days after the procedure, slight swelling can occur, but it recedes on its own. The healing time varies from patient to patient. In the first few days, you should ensure rest and wear loose clothing. You can usually resume your work after a few days; depending on the nature and strain of your job, a longer time off may be advisable.

After about 14 days the wound is closed, but not yet fully healed. You should therefore avoid sporting activities (especially riding, cycling) and sexual intercourse for 6 weeks. You should also avoid the sauna, solarium and swimming pool.

FAQ

FAQ · Labiaplasty Vienna

You should, if possible, refrain from taking blood-thinning medication two weeks before the procedure. You should also avoid the consumption of alcohol and cigarettes in the days before and after the surgery, as this poses a higher risk of bleeding and wound-healing disorders. The appointment should ideally be after menstruation, as it is then easier to keep the wound clean.
In the first few days after the labia correction, you should take it easy and avoid physical exertion. Slight pain and feelings of tension can occur, but subside again within a few days. If necessary, you can take a painkiller. You support the healing process by cooling the region and applying a wound ointment. In the first post-operative days, you should wear sanitary towels and loose clothing.
You may shower on the day after the labia correction. Please do not use soap or cleansing products for the intimate area. Clear water is sufficient in the first few days.
A woman's physical growth should be completely finished. A labia correction is therefore normally not performed on minors. A pregnancy should also not be present or planned in the near future.
The area is made insensitive to pain during the operation by the anaesthesia. As the anaesthetic effect wears off, slight pain and burning can occur. You can reduce these with a painkiller if necessary.
A labia reduction is considered a rather low-risk procedure. Swelling that occurs in the days after the procedure is normal and disappears again after some time. In principle, as with any surgical procedure, the occurrence of bleeding, infections, bruising and wound-healing disorders is possible. With an experienced specialist in Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery, however, the risks are minimised.
Preserving sensitivity has the highest priority. An impairment of the sensitivity of the clitoris is not to be expected.
The effort of the treatment and the individual requirements determine the cost of the labia reduction. How much tissue is to be removed and which treatment method is carried out is something Dr. Özdemir discusses with you during the consultation. He will then also inform you of the detailed cost.
