Liposuction Vienna

Targeted contouring of stubborn fat deposits (liposuction).

Liposuction Vienna

Many women and men today find fat deposits in unwanted places bothersome. Despite a healthy diet and exercise, many people are unable to achieve their own ideal of beauty. Especially on the hips, abdomen, buttocks and thighs, fat deposits persist stubbornly; in some cases this is genetically determined. Quite a few women stand in front of the mirror wishing they could simply have the corresponding fat accumulations on their problem zones suctioned away. Men, too, are increasingly interested in liposuction. Liposuction is usually performed for aesthetic reasons.

What is liposuction?

Liposuction (also called liposuction or lipoplasty) is used to create a new body contour. Excess fatty tissue, for example on the thighs and buttocks (“saddlebags”) and abdomen, is loosened under the skin and specifically suctioned out with a cannula. Liposuction is therefore not suitable for weight loss, but serves aesthetic body shaping. With this long-proven method, the body is specifically brought into the desired shape, for example a flat stomach, slim thighs, a well-shaped bottom. Liposuction leads to lastingly harmonious results.

Areas of application for liposuction

  • Cheeks, chin (double chin)
  • Upper arms
  • Chest area (e.g. breast reduction, gynaecomastia)
  • Back
  • Abdomen, waist (“spare tyre”, “love handles”)
  • Hips, thighs (“saddlebags”)
  • Calves

In principle, liposuction can be carried out on any area of the body. Dr. Özdemir often includes adjacent regions in order to create a harmonious overall picture. Liposuction can be performed in several places at once to improve the body shape. Your silhouette then appears firmer and younger overall. Incidentally, the removed fat can also be prepared and reused elsewhere for filling (e.g. breast augmentation with autologous fat).

Women in particular have subcutaneous fat (fat under the skin) in the abdominal area and not, as in men, visceral fat (in the abdominal cavity). This fat layer does not respond to exercise or diets. However, liposuction can help achieve a firm stomach.

Especially after pregnancies and extensive weight loss, liposuction alone may not be enough for a satisfactory result. If there is a large excess of skin, a lift can be carried out in addition to the abdominal liposuction. You then look considerably slimmer.

Liposuction on the legs and buttocks

Do you wish for beautiful legs? With liposuction on the thighs and the buttocks, Dr. Özdemir can eliminate so-called “saddlebags”. The excess fat on the outer and inner sides of the thighs and on the buttocks is thus permanently removed. Often, as a side effect, cellulite visibly recedes. Liposuction can also be carried out as part of a buttock lift or thigh lift.

Liposuction on the upper arms

Often, targeted training does not lead to the desired reduction of fat accumulations on the upper arms. With liposuction, Dr. Özdemir can reduce the upper arm circumference and make the arms appear slimmer. The small skin incisions are usually hidden in the area of the armpits.

Liposuction as lipoedema treatment

Lipoedema is a painful fat-distribution disorder that manifests itself in swollen legs or arms with bruising and cellulitis. High pressure in the tissue due to water retention and increased growth of the fat cells lead to pain. The accumulation of fatty tissue can be removed by liposuction, thereby alleviating the physical discomfort and curbing the progression of the disease.

Consultation for liposuction in Vienna

Dr. Özdemir will be glad to advise you comprehensively on the possibilities of modern liposuction. In the consultation, you can discuss your individual wishes with him. After a detailed medical history, Dr. Özdemir examines the relevant areas and can tell you whether liposuction is the best procedure for you and what result is possible. The specialist in Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery with many years of experience also informs you about the techniques and is happy to answer your questions about liposuction.

Course of the surgery

Depending on the indication, the treatment is carried out on an outpatient or inpatient basis. Depending on the extent of the liposuction in Vienna, local anaesthesia or general anaesthesia is used. First, Dr. Özdemir marks the areas of skin to be treated. The cannula is then inserted through a small skin incision. Care is taken to hide the tiny sutures in the natural skin folds as far as possible. This results in no scars, or only very small ones that fade later.

In most cases, vibration liposuction (VL) is used as the technique. The cannula vibrates in order to gently loosen the excess fat from the tissue. Often the tumescent method (WAL) is used in combination, in which a high-pressure water jet and a special solution for local anaesthesia of the region loosen the fat cells, which are then suctioned out. Further techniques that can be used are laser lipolysis (LAL) and ultrasound-assisted liposuction (UAL).

After the liposuction

After the procedure, you receive special compression clothing that should be worn day and night for six weeks in order to tighten the skin. In the first two weeks, a slight stinging like muscle ache can occur. You should therefore avoid physical exertion. Swelling of the affected areas is, as with any operation, normal; cooling gel pads can alleviate it.

FAQ

FAQ · Liposuction Vienna

Two weeks before the surgery you should refrain from smoking and from taking blood-thinning medication. Ideally, you will already have reached your ideal weight before the liposuction.
Due to the local anaesthesia or, if applicable, general anaesthesia, you feel nothing during the procedure. In the first few days afterwards, mild pain comparable to muscle ache occurs, which you can treat with painkillers.
After just a few days you can return to your normal everyday life and carry out desk work. The compression clothing can be hidden under normal clothing.
You will see the first results just a few weeks after removing the compression clothing. The final result is usually only visible after six to nine months, once the swelling has subsided and the skin has tightened.
The result is usually permanent. The suctioned fat cells can no longer grow back in the same place. However, weight gain is also possible after liposuction. You should therefore adjust your lifestyle if necessary in order to maintain your weight as far as possible. You can then preserve the positive aesthetic result in the long term.
Carried out professionally, liposuction is considered a safe procedure. If it is performed under general anaesthesia, the same risks apply as for any operation, such as bruising and infections. Dr. Özdemir is a plastic surgeon with many years of experience; you are in good hands with him. He explains the possible risks during the consultation.
Liposuction before the age of 18 is not recommended.
Severe obesity argues against liposuction, as liposuction does not reduce body mass. The amount of fat that can be suctioned in one procedure is also limited. The procedure is more suitable for people of normal weight who have stubborn fat deposits and wish for a new, even contour. You should also not suffer from heart or lung diseases or severe liver or kidney damage. Women must neither be pregnant nor breastfeeding.
The exact cost of liposuction depends on which and how many body areas are treated. In some cases, a combined skin tightening is advisable. To clarify the effort involved, Dr. Özdemir will be glad to hold a non-binding consultation about liposuction in Vienna with you. He will then inform you of the cost in your individual case.
